IMMORTAL

IMMORTAL

By Keesa Wynne

When my lungs take their last breath,

I will not experience death.

For I have discovered an eternal tether;

One that will allow me to live forever.

Poetry unlocked a magical, fated portal. From a fated death, to a life immortal.

When they plant me in the ground,

Do not look for me there; I will not be found.

For on my words, I will forever soar.

My wings will carry me evermore.

The echoes of my prose will lift me high;

Remembrance promises: I’ll never die.

So weep my love, if you must.

Weep for the body that will turn to dust.

But my soul is not confined to that cage.

My soul is woven into every page.

Hold close my words within your heart,

For from this life I will ne’er depart.
